Slow Violence Rehearsal Blog
It’s heating up at Happy Holiday’s HQ ... and it's not just because the radiators broke!

Slow Violence is a riveting and timely comedy exploring climate change and our attitudes surrounding it.
I was fortunate to be invited back by B Team theatre to attend the show’s R&D sessions this summer. Being an Early Career Artist graduating into the closure of the Theatre Industry last year was a devastating blow. Thankfully with the easing of lockdown and the industry on the rise, Slow Violence was back in full swing and I was grateful to be back in the room after a long year.
Entering the rehearsals we began with a check-in. One of the many things I'd admired about working with B Team was their dedication to artist welfare, it's been a tough year for many and it was reassuring to know our well-being was a top priority throughout the process.
Soon after a dynamic warm-up, we were quick to recap the workings of the previous day, here I got to witness how the show had been evolving and I was invited to offer my thoughts and ideas throughout. Without giving too much away, seeing the visual imagery and physicalization of the show had me in awe and was a spectacle in itself. Not to mention the script and comedic flare of Harry and Laura are unmatched, I never stopped laughing throughout the process. The show is unconventional and wholly innovative by sparking important conversations through relatable human stories. It goes to show the power of creativity can be revolutionary and accessible to a vast audience demographic.
So if you’re ready to engage with theatre which challenges you, raises questions and at the very least brings you joy and a night of laughter, Slow Violence is a must-see show. Grab yourself a first class ticket, sit back, and watch as we take you on this journey.
